lol, it's pretty funny how an m3 isnt a "sports car" yet it will tear your S2000 a new one in every way possible. the meaning of "sports car" is irrelevent in my opinion. big deal, you can label your car as a "sports car." that means absolutely nothing. if a miata is a sports car and a z06 isnt... i'll pass on owning a sports car. its nice that your manual s2000 beat an automatic c5 in a tight auto-x course. but i wouldnt judge your opinion of c5s on that. because i can guarantee that if you put a decent driver behind a z06, or c5, it wouldnt get walked by your S.
and cut the "spoken like a true fbody owner" crap. the typical S2000 owner is a 55 year old male with a big ego... a big ego that us typical fbody owners like to deflate at every stop light possible.
back to the original topic, i dont think import companies will ever be able to get to the scale of 1/4 mile speed that domestic companies are taking it up to. the introduction of the 03 cobra settled that score, and its only getting faster. 10s with bolt-ons and tires = insane.
Let's talk e36 M3 vs. S2000 since they were at least REMOTELY in the same price range. You think the M3 will tear the S2000 a new asshole in every way possible? Do you not realize how close these two cars are in performance?? Almost identical. I'm not trying to turn this into an S2000 vs. the world discussion either. I just used it as an example. Read my post about the automatic vette again too, it was a drag race.
Yes you heard right, a Miata is a sports car, and a Z-06 vette isn't, that could be left to opinion though. A vette is very very close to being a sports car with just some minor engineering things overlooked, again, it is my OPINION that a vette is not and even I question that opinion somewhat. Anyway, what in God's name is your point? an old MG is a sports car and yet even a new Civic will beat it up.
What ego would you be deflating at a stoplight by racing an old guy in an S2000? an S2000 is not a muscle car. It's a 14 second car. most F bodies ave no problem running mid to low 13s stock. It's a different kind of car which I believe is the point of this whole thread.
I think the biggest problem is you guys thinking that by me saying that your car isn't a sports car that I'm downgrading your car. I'm not. Some of the most amazing cars in the world are not sports cars. Bugatti EB110, Bugatti 16/4 Veyron, Ferrari 575M, Aston Martin Vanquish...I could go on and on. For the sake of arguement I checked with my insurance company. Corvette = Sport coupe, M3 = sports coupe or sedan depending, Firebird = 2 door coupe, S2000 = sports car.
