If you're going to do it, do it right. Decide what you're going to use the vehicle for and shop for a lift that you think will best suit your needs. I'm pretty new to this as well, but I can't imagine ever being happy with a 3" body lift.... and that's it.
a three inch body lift is rather economical and its a decent idea. this way there is pretty much zero modification to the suspension and drivetrain. you can stuff larger tires under the vehicle and have much better articulation since your body is up high and therefor giving better clearance. plus some of have champagne taste on a beer wallet. another idea for on the cheap, lift blocks for the rear leafs and coli spacers upfront.
