URITE.

Especially when overheated, the plastic ones crack. in fact there was a TSB about them as well.

This too. 4.6L are well known to have air in the system when refilled with coolant if not done exaclty like the Ford manual requires.

Check the cross over tube for a little plug on it. You can use a ratchet to open it up, fill it from there and let the air bubbles out since it's the highest point in the system.

Be very careful though. The plugs are known to be hard to get out and can strip easily
