Default Re: oil flow help

my dipstick was usually accurate but the has been a problem getting it back into its tube lately. about halfway down it needs to forced and twisted so it will go all the way down

ive changed the oil twice since i felt like the leak was affecting it to a point where there was no more oil and the dipstick said it was empty but every time i empty it just over 4-6 quarts comes out with no problem. its only suppose to have 4 in there but i sometimes add an extra if ive been driving for a while and i feel like the friction is nearing to much for it to handle.

the leak is slow and from the back of the engine. it hasnt caused me to have less than 4 quarts in the engine at a time but its definitely leaving a spot on my driveway thats growing

i havent checked the oil pump, where is it? the car has almost 280,000 miles on it so some gaskets could be going but im not sure which to check
