So they stole it with a tow truck? Or did it get stolen, then towed later...
Man I always thought about how great of a scheme it would be to go around a tow cars away and steal them that way. The reason I found this out was:
I parked my car at a friends house (in sterling, va). I parked what I thought was legal, against a curb, that was not painted, and no signs saying you couldnt park there. I was inside, hanging out, and someone else called me and said, I just went down rt. 28 and I saw your car on the back of a flatbed. I had my friend follow it, and he told me it was Battlefield Towing in Chantilly. I drove up to the place, and demanded to get my car back, and they wouldnt. They wanted me to pay $250. This was back a long time ago, didn't have much money, and that pissed me off. I told the guy to get his scrawny ass out and open the gate or that I was going to kick his ass. He didnt like that too much and called the police. I was glad, IMHO, the tow truck company stole my car.
The police get there and I explain the situation. Basically they say that can't do anything about it. Furthermore, they towed my car from Loudoun county to Fairfax county, so it was outside their jurisdiction to determine if my car was indeed parked legally.
So I confronted the officer, and said, "So, If I spent the money, and bought my own tow truck, and just started illegally towing cars and making people pay fee's to get them back, you guys wouldn't do a damn thing about it ?"
Response: "Nope".
Me: "Well I'm in the wrong fucking business"
