LOL, In all seriousness, I'm a big advocate for protection when it comes to training class and/or competitions. When I take pistol classes or participate in IDPA/IPSC competitions, I wear soft armor. Sometimes I wear it concealed or wear my eagle LVAC. When I take carbine classes, I wear both soft armor and hard plates.

Anything can happen, and it will likely happen when there's a lot of people around you shooting and moving. OR shooting thier rifles, running dry and having to transition to thier secondary.
