I know this is a change for a lot of you, and some of you don't like change.
However, vb3.0 is more efficient than the 2.x codebase. It also has some features built in that had to be hacked in previously, which made minor version upgrades a pain in the rump.
With that said, we are hoping this upgrade will minimize or even eliminate the almost weekly server problems we have had in the past. The server these forums run on is quite powerfull and should easily be able to handle these forums. However, no matter how much tuning I have done to this thing you guys find a way to slow it to a crawl (constantly mashing f5 when the server isn't responding doesn't help

). If the server still poops out, we plan on upping the ram from 512MB to 1GB, and hopefully that will work. Failing that, looks like I will be spending some time porting vBulletin to either Postgres, Sybase or Oracle

THAT will not be a fun experience.
So take some time and get cozy with the new features. The design can ALWAYS be tweaked. The question is, how much you have to bribe Eng or Sung to actually do the tweaking
