Well technically it is "mid engine"... just front mid. But since I know you mean rear-mid I ask why? The C5R and C6R allready beat the snot out of everything with the front-mid configuration. No need to go rear-mid for the sake of impressing people that think it's automatically better. That said, it was considered for a time, but it has been officially set aside, the car will retain the front-mid setup. Rear-mid comes up everytime a new generation Corvette is on the horizon. The NCM even has a 4-rotor wankle setup that was tested in the development of the C3.
