I am definitely wrapping my new laptop (whenever I get around to buying one) in that stuff.
its not 3m stuff. it is something called Neffy wrap. it is applied with 3M spray adhesive though.
these pics are how it looked before. the silver pieces were severely scratched up so this is a major improvement.
