Re: Tidewater Auto Electric..BOO
Gear didn't hack into his wiring, his friend did. And from my personal experiences with talking to him, he doesn't come across as someone who thinks he knows everything about cars. He's just another guy on here who is interested in the whole import automotive scene and WANTS to learn.
As far as reporting the shop to the BBB, I'm one of the "adults" who recommended him to do just that. And from what some other people have stated about their past experiences with the shop, I bet it wouldn't be the first time someone has called and made a report. The main reason for making a report is to aid others in their decision whether or not they should render services from a company. BBB provides that type of data for you so you don't have to go through the same pain as others had.
If you own a business, and one of your employees performs substandardly, it is a direct reflection of the way you run your shop. Everything that happens is your responsibility. One of your workers does something good, it's because of you. One of your workers does something bad, it's because of you. There's no excuse for an automotive electric shop to misdiagnose something like that.
To me, it sounds like someone taking advantage of a teenager who doesn't know much about cars. Put yourself in this situation. You're working at a shop, and this young guy comes in and tells you his car's not running. What's the first thing you're going to check? Of course, the fuses. So you find a blown fuse. That's when you can make the decision of being honest and just charging for a diagnostic check or see how much money you can suck out of this kid's wallet. Now I am not saying this is what happened. I wasn't there. But if the shop actually didn't even check the fuses, then what does that tell you about their expertise? Or lack of....
