The Santa Rosa architecture in this version of the MacBook Pro 17" results in a faster bus speed and a graphics upgrade.

The MacBook Pro 17" Santa Rosa Model A1229 is one of the top of the line Apple Laptops and it can be upgraded to a total of 6 GB of memory using a 4 GB RAM chip and a 2 GB RAM chip. It would be a shame to have all that RAM and yet have a slow hard drive bogging down your notebook. The 500 GB 7200 RPM SATA hard drive will give you plenty of storage.
