as far as your 72, NICE it must have been a pain in the arse to find one for that cheap! I paid about 2k for mine with no bondo and some rust in the trunk and rockers but overall it was in good shape, it was originally an I6 car till I got ahold of it and did a 350/TH350 swap among other things,
As far as back halfing I am not saying you need to back half it for traction but also for the frame I know a couple guys who have seen people drop a BBC into a nova (not necesarily stock)and twist the chassis and they never seemed to sit right afterwards, and yes I have heard of F.A.S.T. but my back halving comment was more towards keeping the chassis from twisting...
