couldn't have said it better. cooling has got to be the most important part of taking care of a rotary. hell they have a buzzer that goes off if you have air bubbles in your radiator. my friend blew a radiator hose in his FC and ended up blowing an apex seal.
Losing a hose and running hot could cause a apex seal to break if the housings warped as a result of overheating...but that's a longshot.
Like it was said earlier, they just require maintence...
The motors WILL last if you take care of the car, I'm up to 115K stock motor/turbo.
