some apartment places will discount for fire/police/teachers but don't always advertise it. worth asking if you find one close to your budget.

if you're looking at a rental house or condo, let the landlord know as well. i discounted for two cops that lived at one of my houses. can't increase for non-cops, but can discount for them.
