Default Re: What is Reckless Driving Now in VA

A few other tidbits I've picked up over the years...

Crossing across two lanes without stopping in each lane for a few seconds and signaling seperately each time is considered wreckless. So, to legal change over two lanes, you have to signal, move, turn off signal, signal again, move, turn off signal... taking about as long as it took you to read that. So if you just cut the signal on, and move across two lanes, that's wreckless. But of course its at the officers discression. Also, crossing any solid white line is technically wreckless I've heard a few times... Like say if you drive straight across the middle of a parking lot... that is "technically" wreckless. Its kinda like driving the wrong way, etc. Just plain not safe. Now I've never really seen anyone get written up for it, but normally people don't do it right in front of a cop either...

Also, as Toda just mentioned, anything over 80MPH is wreckless, and ANYTHING over 90 is a day in jail. As Toda said, he got 96 in a 55... and got 6 days in jail, luckily he only served 3. So in otherwords, if you get curious just how fast you car can go, and get clocked at 140mph... be prepared for a nice long stay in jail if you do it in Virginia Beach! =(

Oh yeah, and VA laws just plain such. DMV and Virginia Code contradict themselves, and just about everything is left open for interpretation by the officer and the judge. So 99.9% of the time, you're wrong... regardless of the situation... Take Exhausts! Perfect example of a f'd up legislature. They're giving exhaust tickets as basically a way to legally harass enthusiasts and make money. I mean its like $89 for a exhaust ticket... Now some people really deserve them, but with all the Mustangs/Camaros/Trucks rolling with loud exhausts, I'm doubting law enforcement is pulling them over... but you see an import with a "questionable" exhaust... and there go the red and blues... sucks. Damn "Commonwealth"... fuggin sucks
