I never did end up getting the head unit for the same reasons as cables being ran outside of the car. Instead my car came equipped with Bluetooth, which i connect my phone to, and run the satellite radio app off of my phone. It works great and sounds fantastic.

It sounds like you hate the cable puck thing as much as I do. The Bluetooth option might be something for you to look into, you can run any streaming music/radio and you get hands free calling. Win win in my book.
