base layers
bought one of these at the beginning of the season:

it makes a world of difference. today, it was ~70 on my ride home, but I'd worn a t-shirt and my perfed leather jacket and left that shirt in my back pack (i'd worn it and a thermal t-shirt under the jacket on the ride in). My arms were freezing after only a couple of miles. pulled over, put that shirt on under my jacket and had a very comfy ride home.
it fits a bit like a wet suit but does a great job of blocking the wind.
