The staff at NICO had inside word a few weeks ago that this was still on the table. I don't know of many people who aren't offended by this plan. It's absolutely ridiculous.

EDIT: After reading the article, he's just spreading more of the rumor mill. Even corporate has been quiet to staffers on talk sites about whether this is happening or not. I'm hearing second hand from our admins at NICO that they have a "reliable source inside Nissan" claiming it could still happen. But no date or anything like what this guy claims.
