Almost got tagged by a 'left-turner' this morning.

I was coming up to a stop sign at the bottom of a downhill slope. About a second before I get to the white line, an older fella in a black Mercedes zooms up and makes a left turn... but instead of arcing it around, he cuts it short and comes straight across my lane. I barely stopped in time to not hit his driver side door. About halfway through his maneuver he apparently realized his mistake because the 'deer in the headlights' look on his face was priceless.
