your partially correct, that would be what you call a 'high side' where the bike is sliding and then suddently regains traction tossing you off the bike
i just slide it around like CBR600 said in the dirt, don't have the balls to do it on pavement, but some of my "stunna" friends can do a full 180 its pretty bad ass... but as long as you keep the rear wheel sliding and you lean the bike over really far you can just spin it around w/ out getting pitched off, most guys i see actually use their foot too to hold the bike up, common stuff if you've ridden dirt, just on a heavier bike w/ a little more grip... but if you were to stand it up or suddenly let off the brake then your right, the rear wheel would regain traction and toss you off
