because of the 427 ford 's dominance it was Ban from NASCAR the 426 hemi was not a production engine but a special built Race engine, because it was not a street production engine it was ban as well! Chrysler boycotted NASCAR so there engine was given back to them! Ford kept racing they just built a different engine the 427 SOCH but it was ban before it even raced one race. by 1969 the Ford Boss 429 was making enough power that even Richard Petty switched to Ford! Dodge Came out with the wing cars that were fast, Ford Got Screwed again when there winged cars were ban again before they even were raced! If NASCAR was going to allow wing Cars they should have let every body use them or no body.
