I'm gonna go out on a limb and say it isn't a cat. The reason cats are so expensive is because they use rare/expensive metals.
Catalytic converters currently account for about 35% of the platinum, 65% of the palladium, and 95% of the the rhodium used annually. All of these metals, which come mainly from Russia and South Africa, are far more expensive than gold.
