To verify that the splugs/wires are working pull them and see that they are firing. Be sure that they arent some ungodly gap while you're at it.

A dirty throttle body Id imagine isnt the case here as that would likely just cause the throttle to stick instead of simply not working.

Id check for huge leaks the in the intake path first off. I believe theres an idle bypass in the throttle body itself which could also be the cause. Vaccuum leaks are also another possibility so check those out, however it sounds like one hell of a leak for it to do that. Just go out and spend some time checking it out and report back.
