They were always more expensive, but with the cheaper filter adapters you had to carry around 2 or 3 all the time as they failed with regularity. Thanks for all the comments. I decided to only run the cooler during the summer/during HPDE events as I do a great deal of short trips and the oil does take longer to heat up. When I took it off (only took the adapter plate and the hoses off) I am pretty confident that the leak is coming from the plate. I did not tighten it down supper hard so I am sure that is the reason why. I am thinking of using a small amount of gasket seller to help the seal work with out needing too much pressure. Not sure if this is a good idea or not. Also, on the plates that cracked where they the generic ones or where they Mocal plates. Also, it would seem that a crack would lead to complete oil pressure lose and total engine failure. That is a little scarry.
