Re: 4x4 Off Topic Thread
so putting a feeler out there...
I am most likely selling my truck soon... I love the thing to death... but I can sell it here in Colorado for around $18,000 (when I only paid $12,500)... plus I drive less than a mile commute to work, and its annoying to always have to plug my truck in during the Colorado cold (which is like 7 months out of the year)
I'm debating on picking up a 2005+ Nissan Xterra or an 05+ Jeep Grand Cherokee in replacement for my truck... and I'm looking to see opinions on each....
this is what I'm looking for in my next truck:
1. 4 door, newer, lower miles, high reliability, a comfortable interior, and the capability to tow 1-2 motorcycles.
2. decent off road capability (I'm planning a trip to MOAB with a few buddies here in May - June)
3. I'm looking to put 32 - 33 inch tires on it with a ~3inch lift
4. something with enough power to get out of its own way but still maintains around 20mpg highway
I'm leaning more towards the Xterra because you can put 285s on them with around 3 inch lift, they already have a nice roof rack, and they have a larger interior than the WKs... plus I believe the V6 in the X is a better bang for my buck than the v6 in the WK....
but I'm still open to opinions... I know someone on here has a really nice black Xterra I've seen....
Thanks in advance guys

from reading on the various forums..... the Xterra with 33s gets about 16-17... the grand gets 13-15
so lift, wheels, tires, winch, winch mount, and rola rack i'm under $2500
tires alone for the super duty i'm over $1,000

Re: 4x4 Off Topic Thread
i definitely want something a little bigger inside and a 4 door
but i want to spend around $15,000 and there's no way I'll be getting a 4 door wrangler for that price.
and I know an X is not going to be as capable offroad as a different vehicle with a solid front axle, but I think for what I am trying to accomplish, it will suffice just fine.

In your case I would suggests searching to see what's available for the better deal and going that way since you seem like you'll be fine with either.

Re: 4x4 Off Topic Thread
Finally got some time to wrench on the Jeep.
Installed
Spicer ball joints
Spicer front axle ujoints
Currie short arms x8
Rancho rs9000xl shocks
The 10inch travel shocks replaced 9inch travel shocks. Flexes out a lot better. Johnny joints are 100x better then fixed control arms with rubber bushings. I knew this but finally glad to do the upgrade.
