I had to with mine. There was what looked like tire wet and candle wax all over it.

Little simple green and the rough side of a sponge got it off so I could safely break it in.

 

No....you never ever ever ever want to do that. That doesn't break the tire in at all. Charlie I know you are smarter then that to think that simple green and sand paper will remove the mold release which is soaked into the tire and you have to bake it out.

 

nooooo not the mold protection stuff.

there were gobs of what looked like candle wax on it and it looked like someone had tire shine or oil or something all over the fucking thing.

burnouts is obviously the only way to remove the mold protection.

 

Anybody use a tire pressure and temperature monitoring system on their bike? Im looking for some input, thinking about getting this one:

Welp, put circa 500 miles in the DUC this weekend. What'd YOU do?

 

Painted the wheels and washed/waxed/buffed the cage.
