Also, the 2000 has a better regulator, a cat, o2 sensors and an idle circuit so the ecu doesn't regulate fuel until the bike comes up to operating temperature. Despite the emissions controls, there is no power loss.
Didn't only the '98 and '99 have gear driven cams though? That whine is amazing.

I think you should buy it, ride it for a month, then sell it to me for substantially less.
