Re: Does this sound like a bad cv axle to you?
i know i spent like 250 to get my axle replaced in my std because i couldnt get the right axle anywhere, after i got the car back it was pulling hard to sone side, so i looked at the axle and the boot was was all stretched out.
I took it back to the place and left it there almost all day for them to tell me, oh its fine everything is good. Which i know it wasnt. well.... the next week it was clunking loud as a bitch every turn. no ripped boot or nuthin.
i never had time to take it back within the warranty though so o well.

Well when I jacked it up again I was wrong, the springs weren't seated right, so I had to raise my car up like 1.5" to get to where I knew they would seat right when I took the car off the jackstands. Sure enough, that seemed to have been the source of the clunking noise. Last time I rotated my tires I had lowered it down some more, which I frankly had completely forgot haha b/c I didn't drive my car much at school. Still though, I don't remember it clunking at all till the last few weeks so that's still confusing but oh well.
When the car was jacked up I also put one of the wheels back on and gave it a few spins... definitely some clicking from the passenger's side CV (I was wrong on that too, sounded like it was coming from the driver's side). BUT when I put the car back down and drove it around the neighborhood I didn't hear any clicking so my only thought on that was by raising the car I took some of the stress off of the CV axle. Granted its still going to need replaced but with the car raised up a bit its doesn't seem to be something I need to fix asap.
But yeah I'm frustrated w/ the coilovers. I'm on tein ss coilovers, and if I lower it back down to where I like it, then I'm going to have to put up with the clunking noise b/c the springs aren't long enough to reach the perches if I lower them any more.
