Nothing wrong with machining them as long as it's a small amount. You might not have to get them surfaced at all if they are still flat and don't have any surface defects. If you can get cheap rotors though, it's easy and you don't have to worry about the quality of the machining work, which can be sketchy unless the person that does it actually cares. I'm poor right now so I spent $35 (total) to get the rotors surfaced; WRX rotors aren't especially cheap compared to the Honda and Nissan stuff I've had in the past. I did get some Hawk HPS pads though, which I love.

Do it your self.I know most shops don't resurface rotors anymore because its easier and faster to just replace them (this isn't saying its not done, its just not as frequent). If I were you I 'd just buy new ones if you even need them.
Are yours warped or do they have groves in them? Since its a newer car I would think their fine.

i dont see the harm in resurfacing. as long as your paying attention and take your time to do a good job with sharp blades and no chatter its fine. ive never had a problem
