all this is irrelevant cause a ls head is not going to flow enought cfm to use a cam that big, u would be taking steps backwards, in the end it comes down to how much power u want to make and really that is gona be limited on what the head is going to flow no matter how big the cam is, and a ls head just does not flow what a vtec head does no matter what u do to it, and the rocker arm design is completly different

Yeah, like i said not saying it would make more power, just the whole proof of concept.

It seems that you are asking that if you use a vtec killer cam in a vtec head will it work on just one specific cam lobe. Thus making like an ls head. In that case the "consept" is the same. Not much thought should have to go into that. It dose not mean that by throwing an crazy amount of money into an ls that you will get anywhere close to the results with the same investment in a vtec engine.

The whole point here is that if LS heads could flow enough to make good power, there wouldn't be any reason to use VTEC heads with VTEC eliminated.

your theory is correct.
to maintain the same amount of air per stroke...(read not flow) is tough...the only way to get around the lift issue/limit of the cap is to lengthen duration of lift but your high rpm performance would suffer with more than 5-10* overlap.......point being made...for the cost/benefit of a custom ground LS cam set, you could buy the vtec head with killer cams...

First question i have is for jarrod, i have read you can't use a p8r head on a ls, because of the combustion chambers was made for a 84 mm bore(the b20). I could be wrong or you may have witnessed it done on a ls(81mmbore). If so let me know, been wanting to try it for some odd reason.
The non vtec heads have problems revving that high with very aggressive cams. The rocker arms tend to pop off, remember nothing but tensoin from the cam holding them in. Besides cams that big you loose low end torque, thats why they created vtec and the heads to make the 2 cam profiles work.
