Re: Sumospeed Springfest 2011 - Saturday, 05/14/11
Last year it wasn't a DJ, it was a bunch of live acts that were less than good, but they were free, the acts payed to perform, and the organizers of the entertainment paid for the staging and all that. Lesson learned. As far as cost, we have to pay a rental fee for the lot, insurance, paramedics on hand, off duty police officers, we actually have to pay Harbor park to sell food at the event, the DJ, media coverage, rest room rentals, trophies, signage, plus printed items like the flyers, registration forms, car ID cards, and that type of stuff. It definitely isn't cheap to do. We keep a small portion the profits to put towards future events (not just Springfest, but our annual toy drive, poker runs, and Yahtzee cruises for charity) and to pay for hosting our website with everything else going to charity. As far as pricing goes, it cost nearly $50.00 to enter a car into a HIN show with around 20 to 25 (if i remember correctly) to just go spectate. It only costs 15 to pre register for our event and 20 the day of for car entries and its only 5 dollars a car to spectate, greatly cheaper than HIN was. I mean if you look at last year's event, the majority of the cars that entered the event were very nice and we didnt have any "rice" out there for the most part. I hope that kind of helps to break down what goes into the event and I look forward to seeing you out there.

Gotcha, Im not trying to give you shit on purpose... just trying to figure it out.
This year sounds better and more official, time will tell.
Also something else... it should be catagorized by make, not drivetrain. What is so diffferent about a RWD, AWD, and FWD when showing?

Yeah the music this year will be much better and we will actually have food there this time. Those were the only real complaints we heard in regard to last year's show from people in attendance. We have a lot more vendors that will be out advertising this time and our outlook as far as cars goes, we are looking at more than double what we had last year as I have seen posts of caravans coming from North Carolina all the way up to PA. Should be a great time.
