VIRGINIA BEACH
Two men were killed in separate motorcycle crashes in Virginia Beach on Saturday.
The first fatality happened at 6:41 p.m. in the 700 block of Daimler Drive, police said.
The man operating the motorcycle was on Daimler about 6:40 p.m. and went straight on a curve, hitting a mailbox and power pole, said Officer Margie Long, a police department spokeswoman. A female passenger was taken to a hospital for treatment.
The man died on the way to the hospital. Police had not released his name because they were notifying his family.
The second fatality happened at 7:50 p.m. on Witchduck Road at Alfriends Trail, near Sentara Bayside Hospital.
A man was operating a motorcycle, with a female passenger, and struck a vehicle coming from Alfriends Trail onto Witchduck, Long said.
The man was killed, and the woman was taken to a hospital for treatment. Police were notifying the man's family.
