Depends on the state idiots, in NC if the damage reaches 75% of the value of the car it must be totalled.

In VA it's 100%... so technically if your car is worth $1200 and there was $1199.99 in damages I could make it be fixed.

However, you can make a constructive total loss by factoring in potential supplements (additional est for hidden damage), rental car bill (if they're a claimant), potential salvage value, etc.

Normally if a car is over 50% I tried like hell to get it totalled... better for the customer, not in the shop for 2 months, no bullshit down the road.

To the poster.... your car is done... bags blows = done on an older car.
