Re: 93 dx civic no power to cooling fan... ahhhhhh
ok i have still not firgured this car out..... i jumped the coolant fan switch and ran the car so the fan would be on. i was trying to see if it would bring the temp back down once the thermostat opened up and well the thermostat didn't open up even when the temp gauge was almost at the hot line.... i am so frustrated with this car.... does anybody have any ideas? could the waterpump cause the thermostat to not open or would the thermostat open when the engine reaches a high enough temperature? any help would be great... thanx

Sounds like you have a thermostat problem then. Cheap and easy to replace, so if you haven't done it in a while.....

Re: 93 dx civic no power to cooling fan... ahhhhhh
ok just to finalize this thread... after countless hours dicking with this thing i finally know what was wrong... i ended up swapping the car and getting it down the road and afterwards i decided to tear apart the old motor and found that the head had 2 cracks along the face between cylinders 1 & 2 and 1 crack between cylinders 2 & 3.... which i thought would have messed up compression and make the car run like ass but it didn't the car ran just fine the cooling fan just didn't work and im guessing that they allowed air to pass by the head gasket as if the head gasket was blown... who knows.... i just know now what to look for if i ever encounter it again

i know this.... the thermostat wasn't opening at all not even above 200 the guage would peg out and the thermostat still wouldn't open... and all of this after somebody did a headgasket.... now do you see why it was hard to figure out.... cuz everything pointed that the headgasket was blown but it was super fresh like maybe 50 miles on it
