Don't want to lower your spirits, but you might not get that much money, just medical bills paid and some pocket money. The insurance company is the one whose going to take the hit, thats what they are for no matter what the situation. I can tell you whats going to happen. First, they will try to say that you were intoxicated (being at the beach that late at night) and that it was your fault for not obeying traffic signals or some bullshit. Second, they will drag this shit out as long as possible trying to low ball you and settle out of court. Third, They will bring in specialists and asess your injuries and then go into your past history to find anything to make you look partly liable. They have lawyers that are good at what they do and trust me they are good. My older brother was hit by a van and dragged over 150 ft!! He was in a coma for little over a month and suffered multiple life threatening injuries. He still suffers from these injuries 17yrs later and you know what the result was for the suite. After 6yrs of fighting this in court my family finally got his medical bills paid, and 115,000 for pain and suffering which is taxable. The kid driving the van was 15yrs old and intoxicated, he tried to drive off, but was stopped by bystanders. He was tried as a juvenile and found guilty on traffic infractions with no time servered and minor fines. His family paid no out of pocket because they had insurance. If they didn't, all they have to do is file bankruptcy and guess what you're stuck with the bills. Its just like someone getting hit by a uninsured motorist, you're stuck with the bill till you sue and try to get money. That's why most insurance companies carry uninsured motorist add-on. Well I typed enough, good luck, but don't get your hopes up, unless of course this lady is famous and then that means game on
. P.S. Be careful what you type on here, it is usable in court.

Bankruptcy no longer clears you of lawsuit judgements. The new laws that went into effect a few years back stopped that, i guess to many people were doing that.

update...
the lady who hit me had her arainment (sp) this morning. she was posted with bond or something another, and she is required to take screening, check in, test, whatever else until her trial date. thats all i've got so far about the lady.
for me (ya i know you don't care
) i'm scheduling an MRI cuz my knees are still fucking killing me, but slowly getting better. i've been going to the chiropractor and he said my spine is misaligned and you can tell by the xray that i got whiplash.
I also went to an orthopedic (for my knees) and he said nothing is broken, but want to get the MRI done to check and see if anything is torn. he was also asking me about the accident, and stuff at the hospital (which i hardly remember any of) and said i had a grade 2 or 3 concussion, and to pay attention if i notice myself having short memory loss (which i had a shitty memory to being with) and any irritation to lighting.
contacting a lawyer today to get the ball rolling, just kind of been taking it day by day with working, doctors apt.s, and having a life, haven't really gotten around to it like i should have.
oh, and i'm terrified of crossing the street now![Wink](images/smilies/wink.gif)
oh, and a little tid bit on the accident. i was the first one to get hit, and took the blunt of the accident. i was hit and essentially I hit my buddy... kind of cushoning him (i'm such a good friend). and we had waited at the intersection until we had the signal to cross... so nothing was my fault, at all.

went to the lawyer this morning, they made copies of my bills up until now, i sent them some contact info for friends who were with me, and they said ok your work is basically done. we will do all the work from here, just keep going to the doctor(s) and keep us posted
