LOL

Whether or not you want to believe it or not, you have a 302, not a 351. Plain and simple, no debating.

There is no logic, no reasoning, no amount of sunshine in the world to change the facts.

not trying to change facts, I just dont understand why someone would take out a 302 HO for newer 302, then convert it to carb, and then dump money into headwork.

I have a fresh valvetrain and the heads are ported. If he was going to do all that, then why wouldnt he have kept the orig. 302 HO that should have came in the 85 GT. Thats all I'm saying, because that would have to be what happened.

Plus he used the motor mounts that came with my motor(long ear mounts that come in F or E series vehicles). Which lead me to believe the motor was more than likely a 351.

Thanks for everyone's input, I guess I'll need to update some things.

1 last thing before I give in, why won't an AOD tranny bolt up to my motor? I have to use a C series because an AOD wont bolt up. Unless this is solved by the correct bellhousing(not to say I didnt have the correct one in the first place). fill me in

Many trucks and vans came with 302, I'd guess that it was the most popular V8 in those vehicles.

How you know the valvetrain is fresh and the heads are ported? You said yourself you've never had the intake off. I wouldnt go by the mounts, I've seen a few different styles. I think someones been feeding you a line of shit. The AOD uses a 1 piece bellhousing/case and will work fine behind a 302 or 351W. You cant remove the bellhousing & it will not bolt to a cleveland engine.

Its unlikely but... Some of the f250/350s had the AOD behind the 460, which wouldnt bolt up.

the exhaust ports on my heads are bigger than whatever 351W ports are. If 351W ports arent bigger than a 302 then shit.

Thats the 2nd thing I noticed, I pulled my valve covers the first day I got the car. For a motor that was going back and forth from jersey, and street raced to the point of a normal motor's failure, the fuckin valvetrain was spotless.

Everything inside my heads are new, I dont know specs, but those heads are fresh as a bitch. The lifters, rockers, and valves are different than stock 302 shit because I compared everything to stock 302 valvetrain.

Someone just buy my car, fuck a 302.

I hope you're kidding. Do you know what a 302 is capable of? What exactly are you looking for from your car?

If you mean sub 10 second 1/4 mile times, then sure. But I dont want to be just another 302 mustang guy. I was liking the sound of 5.8 over 5.0 alot more. Fuck my V6 to 5.0 conversion. I had an entire bottom end ready to go for a 5.0 but I sold that shit cause my motor was supposed to be a 351.

I'm gonna PM you a # to a friend in Yorktown that you need to go talk to. You can go check out his Mustangs and ask him anything you want about Mustangs and figure out what you want to do.

The 85-86 heads have an E5 casting number. From 87 on they would have an E7 casting number unless they are from a 93 cobra which would be GT40 or an Explorer head which would be GT40P. I can tell by looking at the pic it is a 302 because the deck height is the same as the top of the timing cover. A 351 would be 1.3 inches higher. If you have any questions about it just bring it by, I'm over on Dare Rd.
