iReport — Westboro Baptist Church (http://www.godhatesfags.com) invaded Norfolk, VA on March 1, 2010, spewing hate and intolerance in front of area high schools, Jewish temples, and Norfolk Naval Base. Their members were few in number.

A Facebook group (http://www.facebook.com/event.php?eid=324343013479) formed late last week to mobilize the more sensible of those who oppose the hatmongering and bigotry displayed by these people from Kansas. There are, as of Monday morning, almost 800 members of the Facebook group. The WBC was easily outnumbered even before they arrived to their first stop, Granby High School.

After about a half-hour of being ridiculed and swarmed by comical signs from counter-protesters (some were Granby students), the WBC members left for their next target, Maury High School. The Facebook group members present followed. There were also Maury students joining the event with their own signs and a portable stereo blasting songs such as Diana Ross' "I'm Coming Out" and Darkness' "I Believe In a Thing Called Love." It took less than 15 minutes to send the WBC representatives packing once again.

Their next stop was outside the Norfolk Naval Base, where the Facebook group followed them to again. They spent even less time spewing their "More Dead Soldiers" hate speech, packing their signs and driving away as the Facebook WBC counter-protesters laughed them off the scene.

Unfortunately, they're not done. According to the WBC web site, they are mobilizing to Richmond Tuesday and back to Virginia Beach Wednesday. But if this video displays anything, it's that the vast majority not only knows right from wrong but loves to have fun at the expense of ignorance and bigotry.
