Re: Cycle whore thread
They do now a days, but it's the same thing. Ducati just started calling their motors "L-twins" b/c people hear "V-twin" and they tend to think american bikes. Any twin that is not at 0, 180, or 360 degrees... is a v-twin. I could very easily re-work the crank in my parallel twins to 270 degrees, and accomplish the same thing. One piston at TDC when the other is at half stroke. That balances better, allowing higher RPM before it shakes itself apart.
But if you want to get all technical... it's not an "L"... the front cylinder isn't horizontal. and the rear isn't vertical. An "L" that doth not make.
L-twin, V-twin, it's the same thing, different name. Doesn't matter who says it.
Are we done now? This is a bit of a "tarded conversation. ( I mean no offense by that)

Re: Cycle whore thread
Take an L, rotate it counterclockwise 45 degrees.... what's that? Is there a technical dimension for a proper "V"? Harleys are 45 degrees, most honda's are at 52 dgrees, but they are still both V's, correct?
why is this conversation still going on? lol.
