Re: Jan 24 autocross at VMP!
just listen to your I-pod, and buy one of those hats that have a fan attached . Not that I don't like CDC, I prefer NASA. The coarse layouts are better the average speed on a NASA coarse if I were to guess is 20mph higher, and I have friends that do NASA and not CDC. It's preference, I prefer driving farther and attending NASA events. Im used to driving far anyhow for events so it's no big deal, went as far as Chicago last year. I do a couple of CDC a year though.
I'd love to go on long road trips and such, but even Richmond is a stretch for my 25 year old car. I'm also not a young spring chicken anymore and riding hours in a bucket non-reclining racing seat makes my back hurt for a day afterward.
You are correct about the course. I thought this layout was excellent and having this much room to play with was great. Again, kudos to the course designers.

So to help me out if I ever get to help with course design again, what are your top 3 or 5 auto-x obstacles?? I know everyone would like everything to be wide open and flowing, but we have to control speed and direction (inertia) to keep things safe. So if you designed your own Auto-X course what 5 obstacles would you incorporate?? Long slaloms, the circular "skidpad", lane changes, directional sweepers, boxes, what are your favorites?
