some times you can use a zip tie to hold the rings tight and slide the jug on. take a piece of string and tie to the chain and push it through the hole for the chain in the jug and tie it to the chassis. dont forget to install your chain slider.

There is a lockwasher that goes on right before my clutch nut (number 17 in teh link below) that is supposed to have one side marked "OUTSIDE" - and obviously that should face out. Problem with my lockwasher is that there are NO marks on either side. However, on one side the rim is very very smoothe, and the other is imperfect (note: not fucked up or anything, just imperfect). Will that solve this issue or do I have to order a new lockwasher and hope that its correctly identified?

Thanks.

what link?

is the washer beveled? usually on the bevel washers (meaning the hole is higher than the edge) the high spot goes to the outer.

Heyyo. Succes:

Got the piston rings installed.
Got the Clutch installed.
Got the cylinder on.

Woot!

Edit:
Yes - i realize those two bolts on the side oft he cylinder are not secured yet. I'm replacing them with some more tool-friendly ones.

So i'm trying to install the cylinder head, but the clymer keeps mentioning two "camshaft bearing stopper pins" that go on either end of the camshaft on the outer side of the cam journal. I don't have anything there (visible dimple on left side of pic, right side cut off but still there) on my cylinder head - and service honda doesn't have any parts identified for those spots on its diagram. Any ideas?

on that motor, there should be a hollow dowell that keeps the bearing on each end of the cam from walking. and i am correct. number 25

click on camshaft. make sure to use loctite on the cam gear bolts too.

Thanks again for all the help sean. I was luckily able to find #25 among some parts on a shelf here - so I won't have to order them (yay!). Just did a double-check on all the cylinder bolts to ensure proper torque specifications had been met, and then got to work on the cylinder head. I got it in there nice and easily and dimpled the cam journals in preperation for the cam install (hopefully later tonight)

why did you dimple the journals? worried about the bearing spinning? usually you will bolt the cam gear to the cam, install cam, install chain, then install bearings, then the 2 dowels.
