any FORD TECHS here??!! Help!!!!!
I'm at my witts end with this car. I really need some in depth help from a Ford Tech, who has access to a Ford Powertrain Control/Emissions Diagnosis Manual.
Here's the main problem: No spark from any of the sparkplugs
Car: 1996 Mercury Sable 3.0 OHV
Since the car was running, I've replaced the following:
water pump
radiator
Spark plugs
Plug wires
crankshaft position sensor
camshaft position sensor
ignition coil
tested continuity between camshaft position sensor harness to PCM harness
tested continuity between crankshaft position sensor harness to PCM harness
tested continuity between ignition coil harness to PCM harness
There is fuel pressure in the rail, and is being injected into the cylinder. I know this because the spark plug has fuel on it when I remove right after cranking.
Head gasket is not blown, theres no coolant in the oil
Can some Ford Tech please check the PCM manual to find out what I need to test next?
It was running fine, then I floored it, ran the RPMs up to the redline, then the engine died. Hasn't ran since.

I have to ask, why did you run it to redline and have you tried a new or known working coil? If that doesn't work, check the ignition module by replacing it with a known working one.

I tested it with a brand new coil. When I found that the car didn't start, i returned the coil to the store.

it cranks and cranks. While cranking, no spark. Not only have I wiggled all the connection for my sensors, I've replaced almost all my sensors that are required for ignition.

Bust out the voltmeter and start checking. If everything checks out then ECU. I dunno if ford uses Passkey like GM does but even if they did, the car should run for a couple of seconds before cutting off.

I think yours is EDIS-6. (Coil pack with 6 plugs) It's probably the ignition module gone bad. Not unusual to hear about. I just don't remember where it's located, check near the relay/fuse block that's under hood.

of course the plugs are gapped correct, I just installed them.
I'm an electrical guru, BUT I don't have this specific ford manual that I need. I just need a ford tech to check the manual for the proper diagnosis procedure.
