1999 Mitsubishi Eclipse
I need some help.. My running tail lights are out on my 99 Eclipse. I've already checked all the obvious possibilities it could be. The fuses are fine and bulbs are fine. I had a friend look at it as well and couldn't figure it out so we took it to the car shop where they work and still no one knew what was wrong. I tried another mechanic and still no answer.. someone did say it might be the headlight switch but they weren't 100 percent sure. Has anyone else had this problem before or heard of it before?? Any help would be really appreciated thanks.

Have you tested the headlight switch, and have you tested that you actually have power where the fuse is? It doesn't matter if the fuse is intact if there is no power going to the fuse.

Probably a dumb question, but have you checked the bulbs? They are dual elements so the brake lights will work and running lights won't. Maybe somewhere in the wiring, but I doubt that if the brake lights still work.

Well if you have a test light pull the tape off around the wires to the brake light/running light plus. Get a friend to hit the brakes to find out which one has power when the pedals pressed so you can get that one out of the way. The ground wire should be brown or black. Then check the last wire for power when the switch is on. If it has power it could be the actual plug for the bulb, if it doesn't you probably have a break in the wiring somewhere.
