Default Cellular advice and experiences?

What wireless phone provider do you guys (and gals) roll with? I was with Verizon until I got a $1200 bill--they said I was connected to my web service on the phone 24/7 the entire month--which some of you may know is impossible unless you never turn your phone off or make a phone call.. After that, I went out and got what was supposed to be a cheap unlimited minutes plan with Ntelos. I've had US Cellular, and Sprint in the past as well.. The only two that I was ever really happy (as far as coverage.. NOT customer service) were US Cellular and Verizon, although they both had horrible customer service.

I used to work at One Stop Cellular for a while when I was younger and I like to think that I know more than the average person about the industry, but I'd like to know more about your personal experiences with different providers. What kind of coverage do you get with your provider? Travel and not roam? Plan that gives you what you pay for concerning minutes and features? Nice phone?

My parents just got Nextel.. and my dad got a Blackberry. I definitely want to get away from Ntelos. Terrible service, poor customer service, and the plan starts out being like 49.99 a month for unlimited and ends up being something like 60-65 a month after all of the bullshit fees are added on.

I've had pretty good success with U.S. Cellular but my phone is falling apart right now so i'm looking around for a good package plan. Thinking of going nextel cause if me and my gf both get nextels, i won't use many minutes because we can just use that walkie talkie crap. Maybe if you get a nextel too i can page your ass so you actually make it to the next dyno day.

My personal phone is Alltel. I have the national freedom with no roaming. I dont have many probs and if you drop a call, you get a credit each time. They also have mobile to mobile which helps since my whoel family has alltel. Of course you get your "dead spots" but its not many.

My work phone is Nextel. The direct connect is handy but unless others u know have DC its not that beneficial. I also get service in places that my Alltel doesnt and vice versa

IIRC they're already here....

I'm trying to stay away from T-Mobile, Cingular (which WAS Suncom, wasn't it?), Verizon, Sprint, and Ntelos..

US Cellular was good though, when I had it.. Great coverage. The plans could use some work though.

So what kind of plans are there in the Roanoke area? I'm not constantly on the phone but I'd like to get a plan with roughly 1500 minutes because overage is what kills you. You're better off to waste a ton of minutes that you didn't need, than pay overage for minutes you didn't have that you DID need.. I've seen some companies charge $0.60 a minute for overage.

US Cellular is probably the in the Roanoke Valley. I get great coverage. Cingular and all the other companies are horrible except Verizon.

Thing is though I pay no roaming charges when I roam off a Verizon tower as US Cellular and Verizon have a "Agreement" with each other. It has come in pretty handy.

I get great service in Lynchburg even. Roanoke is great.

I pay 40$ a month for 1100 anytime minutes and free nights and weekends and all that shit.

That sounds relatively ideal... maybe a bit more than 1100 would be nice just in case, but that sounds like a pretty good plan. Wonder if they still offer that package. What is it after all the taxes and fees?

US cellular here. national plan. i can talk from my house to cburg on Rt 8. any of you that have ever driven that road will know the oddity of that.

i rarely have any form of coverage issue. of course, being on a national plan, i can pull off of someone elses network and not be charged. my wifes phone is regional plan, mine is national. i can sit in one place and see no service on her phone, and i will have full digital off of Verizon.

insurance is a good thing to have man. 4 bucks a month. phone fucks up, smash. lather rinse repeat.

you know how many phones i have gotten cause of fire calls?
