yes insurance will cover it. this is because a new shortblock/longblock as long as your head is good will only cost around 4k max, not sure about mazda's. where as the car costs, what around 25k?
most insurance companies go by a percentage rate to total a car, being that a rate of 70-75% damage to a car is not worth fixing(this is for newer cars). being that you only damage your motor and maybe a few electronical devices you should be fine.
the only problem is your car is gonna be at the mazda dealer for probly about a week or so depending on part availability and shipping of the new motor, then the assembly time will factor in as well.

also ont forget that you may have fried the Mass air flow sensor if you sucked up a lot of water threw the intake. I no the car shouldnt start if it cant read the amount of air coming in but iv seen it work before and not set off any codes.

thanks all, still unsure of what i do now. It runs fine. no CEL, but i don't know if my paranoidness is making me think i hear a tap or what. My car makes noise as it is <FI @~1300psi> but i keep thinking i hear something else.
