Question Considering a job w/ Cox anyone have any experience with them?

I'm thinking about taking an installer position with Cox comm. Looks like a decent job and will pay the bills.

Any one work there with any input?

Waiting for Shawn (WhiteSSP) to reply, he worked there for awhile and will have something to say about them.

I started out as a Data Tech back in 2000 for Cox. That's when there were only about 6-7 of us per side of the water and we only did "B" side installs. Now they train everyone for just about each role but it's definitely a good job and can pay well if you make your different levels.

You'll hear different feedback from ex-employees or contractors but honestly, it's what you make of it. The work is easy, company vehicle that you drive home, and you get good benefits.

The company is all about advancing from within as well so I left the field after 3 years to work in their IT dept. I've since advanced several times.

i'm a tech III expert and I've been doing it about 3 years now. I've been with the company about 10 years though and I came to this postition for the pay and easy advancement.

I like it alot, your out by yourself, work out of home basically, but it can be hard and stressfull to make deadlines. It's not for everyone, but there are alot of oppertunities in the company if being a tech doesnt work out.

Not to hijack, was thinking about working for cox for college $... what's the best entry level position they have & payrate for it? My only exp. is electronics retail (radio shack, etc.) but I do have CompTIA A+. I'm 19 too so I don't think they would let my drive a truck, lol.

Well being a tech is a good entry level, that or the call center. As long as your 18 and have a decent driving record they will let you drive a company vehicle. Another plus is that Cox will pay for your school as well.

I'm pretty sure new techs start at around $12 an hour.
