Planned Cruise for this Sunday 1-20-08!!!
Alright I found the culprit to my misfire problems thats been haunting me since last night and today.
I plugged the computer up, cylinder 5 misfire. The coil on that cylinder is old. So I ordered a new one tonight. Should be here wednesday!
When I pulled the codes it showed cyl. 5 misfire, and multiple cyl. misfire. With 5 misfiring it was throwing off the others that followed. So I erased the codes, left the computer plugged in, boosted, misfired, read the codes and only cyl. 5 misfire registered. I did it again, bam, 5 came back again. If I dont erase them and let it misfire a ton, then it shows multiple misfires...with 5 still singled out as the culprit!
So once I get that one i'll get out and see how it does!

Yeah with the way you and I were taking those turns you'd think there was no ice out at all. I remember that one turn on Cotton Hill there was like a foot wide line of ice and my front tires hit it and almost threw me into a state of understeer...but as soon as it hit the pavement again I accelerated and the fronts pulled me back in line. It was exciting, I just want my boost to actually hit next time so you aren't stuck behind me puttering up the hill like earlier today!

Gay Audis. BTW Casey is your car still only pushing about 5psi?

well, while I would not rule out a coil, just remember that any time you up the anty on the boost and fuel, your increasing the cylinder density and pressures. Sometimes its more than the ignition can handle and the spark cannot bridge the distance on the plug.
You will have to start gapping them tighter for high boost.
And I was only out for puttering today, wasn't trying to go full blast, just chillin and cruisin, especially with the weather and 40 million pounds of pea gravel...

I guess I could bump the gapping down to .026 or .025? Either way, the coil is ordered so i'm going to replace that first. If I still get any sort of misfiring codes i'll go with a new set of plugs and gap them down a more.

I gapped all those plugs to .028 like audi calls for - and they're a heat range lower. I was told onetime that platinum plugs weren't really meant to be gapped, but I dont know why they wouldn't and others would.

When I went to Advance the platinums were all they had for the 2.7T. I already have 2 brand new platinums in the basement from when I bought 2 boxes a while ago, I just need to go pick up four more ($4/ea.) and swap all 6 in.
