No doubt, they're all shaved. The only thing I'm saying is, its ignorant to say they "originated" stuff and then claim shaved bays to be one of them.
They might have originated wheels too big and tires too small

Lol... my reply sounded kinda dickish BUT I'll be the 1st to admit that some of the old school "Boyd Coddington" era rodders were the originators of bay shaving. Some of them are absolutely mad! I've seen bays in fat fendered rods so smooth you'de think it was a fiberglass kit.

IMO, the VW peeps have a knack for making the bays look 'impossible'. Some of the bays look like the engines are floating and have little to no physical connections or additions. Mike McCoys Jetta is a good example (not gonna post it) as he has removed EVERYTHING including the brake booster and smoothed it. IMO, it's not driveable but it's his show car so whatever. That's what he is going for. He's done some pretty wild things such as a full Porsche interior to the bay shaving to stuffing MONSTER BBS RS's with CRAZY camber (yeah, on a solid beam rear axle). It was the topic of much controversy at a few of the shows as it wasn't very driveable and everything done was to the extreme, but thats what he was shooting for so good on him.
