Default smoking....

i havea gsr and it smokes is this rings or is this valve stem seals plz point me in the right direction.....***smokes when in downshift and then immediately accelerating or smokes when down shifting and smokes when accelerating under full throtle

well i think you car has a bad habbit. but i would change out the seals for right now and see what you get. you can do that yourself and might be a little cheaper than rings. you can do a compression check and see if you have blow by in the cylinders. then do a wet check and see whats the difference.

i would say rings. valve stems mostly smoke when u let the car idle and rings smoke under hard acc. or high rpms

my gsr smoked when it got into vtec and it was my valve seals that were done

I would start by investigating the PCV system. sometimes when the breather hose is crimped the vacuum of the intake side can draw in enough oil to cause smoke when the throttle is closed.

the compression check is the most valid thing to test.

comp numbers are about 160 across and holding steady...on all four....
