Which part? It's kinda big and very diverse.
I grew up out on eastern Long Island so I was going in all the time. Of course I was going to Manhattan and taking the train in.
It was always a fun place to visit but I could never imagine living there.
I feel the same way about NoVa and DC.

usually the people who bitch about richmond/central are people who don't even live here. somebody would post a thread about moving to richmond, which there have been a few, and then someone would chime in about how richmond is some crime slum. something along the lines of "i heard there was a shooting there once. and then thing one time, i actually went out and this bum asked me for change. it totally freaked me out and i locked myself in my house. then whenever someone mentions richmond, i'll tell them how i had to fight off hordes of muggers, robbers, serial rapists, and vicious killers."
