VIP Garage - Sterling, VA
Want to thank VIP for their great professionalism and turn around time.
The shop looks very clean, and everyone is there to help you out.
Was looking for a reliable shop close to home, didn't have a clue where to go, people i asked around here also didn't have any idea. Had a clutch kit put in hours, they were honest with everything they said.
Marty & Jarret are good guys.
I will be taking my car there to get additional work done, and recommend friends.

i can only agree with u, ive heard nothin but good things about that shop. i think this might actually turn out to be the first shop in Nova that is actually worth going to.
A few undisputed facts about VIP Garage:
1) They kept my car for about 2 years
2) They parked it outside, allowing it to be broken into
3) They did not tell me it had been broken into: I had to drive from Arlington out to Sterling and discover it in order for them to acknowledge this, because they wouldn't reply to my emails or take my calls
4) They did not even clean the tape residue from the paint around the window where their plastic blew off; you can still see raindrops in the dust that settled over the interior where they left it open
5) They dodged my calls for at least a year, my favorite incidence of which involved Mary inexplicably picking up the phone after weeks of unanswered voice mails and saying "oh yeah, I've been trying to reach you, hold on a sec" and leaving me on hold for 28 minutes until my phone disconnected in traffic
6) They never provided the replacement window or trim piece as they promised after finally acknowledging the break-in
7) They removed (or stole, depending on how you look at it--I never got it back) the ignitor from under the hood and didn't tell me about it, costing me several hours of diagnosis at the next shop (they blamed Scott Avoy's chip for the failure)
8) When they accepted my car in 2006, it ran (badly), but when they towed it to a competent shop in 2008, it would not even start
In short, I would take a good hard beating before I let those monkeys touch my skateboard, and I would shoot anyone who let them near my car keys. I do not have words for the frustration, blood-pressure, or marital dischord they caused me.
In my experience, they are as honest and reliable as they are mechanically competent--but in all fairness, I make that statement based exclusively on my own experience. Your mileage may vary.
For what it's worth.

Mine was the white 96 240SX/SR. The closest I can come to saying anything nice about them is that they finally paid to tow it to a competent shop in the area.
I dealt initially with Johnathan, then with Marty, then with whoever ran the front office next.
As to the diff hookup: I'm happy for you. Unfortunately, it doesn't change my experience, which was that they provided me with truly terrible customer service. Until they decide to pay to replace the things they promised and/or removed from my car without permission, my opinion remains unchanged.
Take care,
Noah

I wasnt even responding to your post anyway. i was responding to the OP.
Noah's Story is 100% true. And Noah while I am no longer there anymore ( you dealt with me a few times, I actually towed your car to the shop that took care of it for you I hope), and I never got paid for being there anyway, seems like I paid to work there for free and keep the doors open at the same time, if you need any assistance on you car and situation lemme know. We had some conversations at one point in which I identified that I felt you had given them too long on it to see no resolve.
His car was sitting there the day I got envolved with VIP and only got towed out due to an eviction notice based on too many cars parked in the lot, because no one else would do anything about it I got a trailer and got it to a place Noah could get it worked on, Noah was also very quiet, I'd have gone ape shit long before, I applaud your resolve and thanks for not going postal while I was there.
If you look at the BBB you'll see 3 open cases for VIP, there was another SR 240sx that went out of the shop after a LONG time being there sitting and a day later blew the engine from workmanship. One of the partners that used to do the Nissans just up and stopped working there ( I was brought in long after) causing a lot of the nissan problems and no work getting done on them as no one was experienced with the SRs.
As to the Honda side of the house the 2 resident techs are quite skilled in that dept. and I wouldn't hesitate to let either of them work on my car, Ryan and Jarret to quality work. (Both we're not around when the Nissan fiasco started either)
I'll take my Evo to DTM in Chantilly, VA.
